Battalion: 1-28

Operating in Baghdad.

From Captain J: We are ground owners in Baghdad, and we are trying to get uniforms and balls for teens and future Military Aged Males to start some soccer games. The sports equipment will fulfill the vision of the two soccer complexes we are building in the AO (area of operations).

Troops Need You shipped the following goods, worth over $7000 in retail value, which we acquired and shipped at deep discounts.

  1. 50 soccer balls (generic design, there has been negative feedback on Iraqi soccer balls in that kicking the soccer ball with a shoe equates to kicking the country)
  2. 4 sets of uniforms (14 per team) for a total of 56 jerseys and soccer shorts.
  3. 8 goal net kits
  4. 30 pairs of soccer cleats (Men's US size 7 to 11 )

These goods will help the mission by enabling the creation of soccer leagues that will help strengthen the community bonds while giving young men something upon which to focus their energies--other than the insurgency.
