1st Battalion, 3d Marines, "Lava Dogs", are based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii. They are deployed with Regimental Combat Team 2, II Marine Expeditionary Force (FWD) in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar Province of Iraq.

From Lt. H. in Al-Anbar province: Our locals live on the Euphrates River, so there is plenty of water--but it is not safe to drink because of bacteria and viruses. Clean water for the Iraqi families will go a long way toward winning them over!
